CXmas Junior Fund

Sam Rosenburg of Eugene finished 9th in the Junior Men's 15-16 race at the 2012 US Cyclocross Nationals in Madison, Wis.

Thank you to the cycling community–near and far–for your support of our CXmas Junior Fund, which annually awards travel scholarships to Oregon Juniors who compete at the US Cyclocross National Championships.

Powered by Bowen raised money in 2012 with the Future Cross cyclocross race and our second annual CXmas Party in December.

Four Oregon Juniors received travel stipends from the CXmas Junior Fund, as well as additional money donated by the Oregon Bicycle Racing Association (OBRA).

Despite challenging conditions, all four finished well in their respective races. Congratulations!

The 2012 CXmas Junior Fund Recipients

Donovan Birky
Thirteen-year-old Donovan Birky has been bicycle racing since he was very young. Now an eighth grader at Cascade Middle School, Donovan races for the Bend Endurance Academy, and upgraded from the 10-12 age group, where was consistent top finisher, to the 13-14 this year, where he routinely places top five.

Lance Haidet
Like all of our recipients, Lance Haidet is accustomed to a place on the podium, and more often than not, it’s the top step. Lance, who is a ninth grader at Summit High School, races on the Bend Memorial Clinic Total Care Racing Team and for Foundry Cycles. Like Donovan, Lance moved into a new age group this year and races in the Men’s 15-16.

Gabrielle Lehnert completed her first cyclocross racing season with a 6th place finish in the Junior Women's 10-12 race at US Cyclocross Nationals.

Sam Rosenberg
Fifteen-year-old Sam Rosenberg is a tenth grader at Churchill High School in Eugene where he races for the Hutch’s/Co-Motion cycling team. In addition to racing cyclocross, Sam also races mountain and road, including grueling stage races like the Baker City Classic, which he raced with the Cat 3 Men.
